I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here hosts Ant and Dec are national treasures – they’re funny and usually know how to crack a great joke.

But on last night’s show some people think they crossed a line, and are absolutely fuming after the pair made a joke about Professor Stephen Hawking.

The joke came after Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt revealed that she had tried to email the world-famous physicist about a time-travel theory. Scarlett also said that the email address she used was a hotmail one.

The joke that left people angry was when Dec said: "That's an interesting theory isn't it? It's a shame she didn't get in touch with Stephen Hawking via his hotmail account.

Ant added: "She should have asked me. I've got his mobile.” And then pretended to call Stephen and said: “Sorry lads it’s a load of old tosh,” in a robotic voice that mimicked the physicist.

Scarlett revealed her story after fellow campmate Sam Quek revealed that she once met Stephen at an awards ceremony. "What a legend. I was telling Scarlett, it was the first time I ever felt I was in the presence of a legend," Sam said.

Scarlett then shared that she once tried to reach out to Stephen via email with a time travel theory that she had.

Scarlett said: "The speed of light is like 319 and then loads of numbers, it's exactly the same latitude point as the tip of the great Pyramid. So I think the pyramids are from the future, I think someone from the future realised we would need them and went back in time and built them."

"And you contacted Stephen Hawkins with this theory?” asked Lisa Snowdon.

Scarlett replied: "Well I was trying to look for his email address, but it was a hotmail account so I'm not too sure it's real."
