We’ve seen enough men pass through the Kardashian family juggernaut to know their lives change beyond all comprehension – especially when you’re dating the one-and-only Kim.
And, as the latest boyfriend addition to the reality dynasty, friends are worried Pete Davidson is selling his soul, as he makes plans to give up his life in New York – as well as his killer job on huge US show Saturday Night Live – to become his superstar girlfriend’s full-time plus one.
“It’s like Pete’s been brainwashed,” says an insider close to the 28-year-old comedian, who’s been hot and heavy with Kim, 41, since October, with sources saying the couple are already talking marriage and babies.
“He started out in this relationship being much more independent – taking Kim out in New York and introducing her to his world. But that’s really changed, with Kim well and truly running his life. She’s persuaded him to uproot his life in New York to move closer to her place in Calabasas, California, and even suggested that he quit his job on SNL. Everyone knows that Kim is one of the savviest characters in the entertainment world, and Pete should seriously consider her suggestions.”
Last week, Pete joked at an NBC presentation, “I’m here so the media will start paying attention to me.” But it’s one of the only appearances Pete’s made for work in months. He last appeared live on SNL in February, with his only other commitments being, well, Kim. He’s attended red-carpet events on the arm of the reality star – who last week called Pete “the sweetest, nicest human being on the planet” – at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the Met Gala and, of course, the premiere of Hulu’s new The Kardashians TV show.
“Everyone around him is worried,” says heat’s source. “His friends, colleagues and even his mum have tried talking to him, but it’s like talking to a robot. They’ve all seen a shift in his personality since he’s been dating Kim, with Pete bragging more about material things, blowing off friends and family, and name-dropping about notable people he’s met through his girlfriend.”
But Pete reportedly doesn’t care much what everyone thinks of Kim, who is mum to North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm with her ex-husband, Kanye West. We’re told, “Pete’s well aware that folks think he’s lost his mind, but he says it’s just jealousy. He’s got the opportunity to build a future with the hottest babe on the planet and a VIP pass to the most powerful family in Hollywood. The Kardashians have got him right where they want him, and he loves it.”
