After cancelling all of his 2018 and 2019 tour dates back in 2017 due to 'unforeseen circumstances', lovable comedian Peter Kay has kept himself out of the public eye, so it's no surprise fans were delighted when he made a rare public appearance over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Peter, who hasn't been seen in public for over a year, enjoyed the Easter heatwave in Blackpool yesterday (Monday 22nd April), as he posed for photos with staff on the Heritage Tram Tour.
The company shared the photo to their Twitter account, writing, 'We do love a celebrity passenger on our tours, when we can't get one @PeterKay_co_uk will do instead! He kindly allowed a a photo with the driver and conductor on Boat 600 this afternoon.' [sic]
Fans of the comedian were quick to like and comment on the tweet, with one fan adding, 'Hope this legend and his family are doing well', with another writing, 'Welcome back'.
The picture comes almost a year to the day when Peter made a surprise appearance at a charity screening of his show Car Share, where he pleaded with the audience not to give away any spoilers.
The Phoenix Nights star announced the sad news that he would be cancelling all of the shows on his 'Have Gags, Will Travel' Tour back in 2017, leaving fans gutted.
In a statement at the time, Peter said, 'Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.'
The shows across the UK were due to take place in 2018 and 2019, made up of 80 shows, with 16 in Manchester alone.
Although Peter returned to our TV screens in hit BBC show Car Share last May, the comedian has kept himself out of the spotlight.
