Jeremy Clarkson is in hot water with the BBC – unless you’ve been living under a rock, he allegedly punched a producer in what the BBC have labelled a “fracas”, and has been suspended from Top Gear.

Now a Change.org petition calling to “reinstate” the controversial presenter has got 200,000 signatures.

Reinstate, by the way? He’s not a political figure, guys, though many of the signees seem to see Jezza that way, judging by the comments.

“Jeremy is a bastion of light in a dark PC world”, proclaims one Top Gear fan, while another cries, “Freedom of speech, freedom of expression!!! Je suis Clarkson'!!!”

OK, so people looooove Jeremy - you get the drift.

The Mirror reports that Jez punched an assistant producer because he was basically, um, hungry.

"It was all over a catering issue. They came to the end of filming after a long day and Jeremy discovered that no food had been laid on,” an insider told the paper.

"He just saw red and hit the assistant producer, who he blamed for not having organised the food. He snapped."

A BBC statement reads:

"No-one else has been suspended.

"Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday.

"The BBC will be making no further comment at this time."

Will Jeremy return to the Beeb? Will he ever get that alleged sandwich? Only time will tell, but in the mean time we’re off to grab some breakfast as we’re getting a bit hangry. Ahem.

Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked from Top Gear?
