The Game Of Thrones set in Belfast has been the target of an alleged bomb plot.

Police are reported to have foiled the plan several months ago, but the events have only just come to light, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

Paint Hall Titanic Studios was targeted as former police were working there on the set of the show.

The terrorists were preparing to plant a bomb next to a catering unit where the ex-police officers ate.

Sunday Life has seen documents that reveal the plot was stopped after a tip-off from an insider. Details of the plot were then passed on to MP Sammy Wilson, who went to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

A police source told Sunday Life:

“The dissidents initially got word that a number of ex-Royal Ulster Constabulary and army personnel worked at the studios.

“They were even told the exact job in which most of them were employed and the catering unit where they took their lunch and tea at the same time every day.

“Security around the Paint Hall was visibly increased and because of this the dissidents never went ahead with the plan.”

As a result of the plot being exposed, ex-police and soldiers who are connected to the studios have been advised to increase their security.

Scary stuff.
