The 33-year-old was approached by another little boy, the two-year-old son of the British Sailing Team's head coach Rob Wilson, who said: "Hello Princess, my name is Freddie Wilson."
His mother, Wendy Maxwell, then later said: "[Kate] asked him how old he was and he said, 'I'm three.' When I said he is only two, she said, 'George says that. He thinks that he's older.'"
Bless little Freddie too.
Despite the rain blowing out the first weekend's round of the prestigious yatching event, Kate and William still got to try out a few simulators with British Olympic sailing legend Sir Ben Ainslie.
Kate, who is a keen sailor, and Wills were also sporting matching his 'n' hers fleeces as they visited the Royal Naval Base to support the British team and greet fans.
On the day, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also visited the BAR (Ben Ainslie Racing) team base to see its state-of-the-art facilities and meet staff and families.
It was then Kate and William received presents for their children, George and Charlotte.
These gifts included tiny team tops with 'Princess Charlotte' and 'Prince George on them', which Kate reportedly said were "very nice" and would "fit them perfectly".
And even though the event was cancelled and the rain was out, it seemed like a lovely day for all.
