So ending up in A&E after a boozey dinner party with the heat team wouldn’t actually be too unimaginable.

But we're pretty sure Ed Sheeran wasn't expecting to make that trip after his dinner party at the Royal Lodge in Windsor earlier this month.

And we're pretty sure they weren't necking jägerbombs with quite the same enthusiasm as we do, but you never can tell.

Everything in moderation, kids.

Anyway, Ed was dining at The Duke of York's home when Princess Beatrice accidentally sliced his face with a sword.

She had apparently been attempting to knight fellow guest James Blunt and had not realised Ed was behind her as she swung the ceremonial sword.

According to The Mirror a source has revealed: "Ed had been invited to dinner as a guest of Princess Beatrice. They all sat down and there were 20 or so guests."

Among the other guests were James and his wife Sofia Wellesly and apparently James had jokily remarked that he would love a knighthood.

After saying she could arrange it, Beatrice reportedly fetched a ceremonial sword and continued to appoint James a knighthood.

However, instead of gently tapping his shoulder, Beatrice apparently swung the sword back and caught Ed on the face, not realizing he was standing behind her.

Another source explained: "He could have been blinded. Beatrice was deeply upset and inconsolable."

However, Ed showed little signs of being too deeply traumatised by the event as he made little attempt to cover up the cut on his face.

The next night he was posing for pictures with fans at his concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Both Buckingham Palace and Ed Sheeran's management are yet to comment on the incident.
