US rapper T.I. has revealed he attends his 18-year-old daughter's gynaecologist appointments alongside her, "to check her hymen."

Speaking to Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham on the Ladies Like US podcast, T.I. opened up about his family life and was asked if he had had a conversation about sex with his daughter Deyjah Harris, who is in her first year of university.

T.I. said, "Not only have we had the conversation. We have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen", leaving the two hosts shocked.

The 39-year-old added, "So we'll go and sit down and the doctor comes and talk, and the doctor's maintaining a high level of professionalism."

"He like, 'You know, sir, I have to, in order to share information' - I'm like, 'Deyjah, they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you would not want me to know?"

He added, "See, doc? Ain't no problem."

T.I. did say he understood that the hymen, which is a piece of tissue which forms part of the vulva, can be broken by carrying out everyday activities. It is not an indicator that a person has had sex.

The rapper, who is starring on a new Netflix show alongside Cardi B, went on to say, "And so then they come and say, 'Well, I just want to let you know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding, and just other forms of athletic physical activity.'

"So I say, 'Look, Doc, she don't ride no horses, she don't ride no bike, she don't play no sports. Just check the hymen, please, and give me back my results expeditiously."

Deyjah, who boasts an impressive following of 1.5 million followers on Instagram, has not commented on the rapper's remarks and has been lying low on social media.

However, fans have been taking to her most recent posts to comment their opinions. One user wrote, "Please don’t continue to allow your father to invade your body or privacy he doesn’t own you."

Another disagreed, saying, "Stop commenting on here like she’s being abused, he probably just receives the info from the doctor ensuring his daughter is still a virgin.

"Stop taking the the extent of making it seems like he’s violating her. Yes since they Life is already publicized, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to express that PARENTING CHOICE! but y’all need to chill tf out fr."
