Rashida Jones asked why she’s so tanned at Screen Actor’s Guild Awards and is totally cool about it

Yeah, she’s mixed-race, duh

Rashida Jones is funny. She’s funny on the telly in the likes of Parks And Recreation and The US Office. She’s funny on paper, so funny that she’s writing Toy Story 4. ANNNND she’s funny IRL - that’s in real life to non-internet nerds - as evidenced by her super-cool way of dealing with a moronic question during the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.

Strutting on to the red carpet at the awards in Los Angeles, while wearing a dress by Emanuel Ungaro, Rashida was asked up by TNT's red carpet pundit, Danielle Demski:

“You look like you’ve just come off an Island or something, you’re very tanned, very tropical.”

To the uninitiated, Rashida Jones has mixed heritage. She’s the daughter of black legendary music producer Quincy Jones and Jewish actress Peggy Lipton.

Nevertheless, Rashida cooly replied: “Well, you know, I’m ethnic”.

The female interviewer laughed hysterically, paraphrasing Rashida’s comment: “Just me being ethnic, that’s what it is".

While the incredibly pale male presenter, awkwardly attempted to smooth things over by adding: “Yeah, me too”.

Speaking about the subject previously, Rashida said: "I'm lucky because I have so many clashing cultural, racial things going on: black, Jewish, Irish, Portuguese, Cherokee. I can float and be part of any community I want.

“The thing is, I do identify with being black, and if people don't identify me that way that's their issue. I'm happy to challenge people's understanding of what it looks like to be biracial, because guess what? In the next 50 years, people will start looking more and more like me."

We’re totally with you, Rashida. Fingers crossed for less morons in 2065.
