The newest name in indie rock is the delightfully named Rat Boy.
The singer-songwriter, who also happens to be a guitar-playing, skateboarding, stagediving twenty-year-old Essex boy, is known as Jordan Cardy to his mum. He decided on Rat Boy as a stage name because, well, his friends say he looks like a rat. Don’t they sound LOVELY.
After grabbing the attention of Babyshambles’ bassist Drew McConnell, Rat Boy was signed to Parlophone and has already won this year’s NME Award for Best New Artist.

No. The Essex boy is in a real life relationship with a girl he calls his “Queen” and who looks a bit like Winona Ryder.
