Her new fly-on-the-wall Netflix show marks her big return to the spotlight. And while the series has only just started filming, we’re told Rebekah Vardy is already setting her sights on Hollywood.
After keeping a low profile following her Wagatha legal case, Becky, 43, is poised to make her showbiz comeback with the brand-new show. Her husband Jamie, 38, recently played his final game for Leicester, so his football career is set for a shake-up. The series, described as ‘life after Leicester’, follows the whole Vardy family as they embark on a whole new chapter – and Becky has her fingers crossed that new chapter starts at Welsh club Wrexham.
Co-owned by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, 48, we’re told that Becky is hoping a link to him and wife Blake Lively, 37, might help her get into Hollywood circles. Our source says, ‘Becky’s thrilled to have landed a TV show, but this is just the start of her mega-plan to crack the States. She pushed hard for the deal with Netflix, realising this would be her chance to get seen by US execs and get her foot in the door. She knows she’ll need some A-list celebs on her side, so she’s been desperately trying to persuade Jamie to consider a move to Wrexham in the hope she can befriend Blake and get in with her crowd.’
In recent months, Blake’s been wrapped up in a lawsuit against her former It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. But while the actress isn’t drama-free, our source says a bit of controversy isn’t putting Becky off. ‘Blake isn’t the most popular face right now, but Becky loves that she’s in the limelight,’ we’re told. ‘She thinks it could help propel her profile and get her in with the bigwigs.’
Should Blake need them, the WAG certainly has tips on navigating a scandal. Back in 2022, Coleen Rooney, 39, and Becky came face-to- face during their own courtroom battle. Earlier this month, Becky was ordered to pay £1.4m to Coleen after years of disputing the legal costs. Since winning the libel case, Coleen has gone on to release Disney+ docu Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story. And she is currently filming another Disney show, expected to be a fly-on-the-wall look into the Rooneys’ lives. It’s been reported Becky has also had her first taste of filming, with cameras said to have followed her to a pub as she watched Jamie play Nottingham Forest.
With both WAGs having dreams of reality stardom, we’re told it’s Stateside success that will give Becky an edge over her rival. Our insider says, ‘Becky is trying to prove she’s moved on with her life since Wagatha, but it still irks her – and she’s on a mission to get her revenge by becoming a huge star. It would give Becky great pleasure to go to the States and smash it both personally and professionally. She loves the thought of watching Coleen do the British circuit while she’s living the dream in LA.’
But while the mum of five – who has Megan, 20, and Taylor, 15, from previous relationships, and Sofia, 10, Finley, eight, and Olivia, five, with Jamie – has her plan mapped out, her husband’s future in the world of football is still undecided, with plenty of offers on the cards.
We’re told, ‘While Jamie isn’t set on going to Wrexham, Becky is doing whatever she can to push for it. She’s insisting his next step after that would be playing for Major League Soccer in America, where they can have a fresh start and she can launch her presenting career.’
But while Becky plans ahead, our source adds, ‘Friends have warned her about focusing too much on Coleen. They worry that if she puts too much pressure on Jamie, she could push him away.’
