EARLIER: Rhian Sugden and her fiancé Oliver Mellor are thought to have split following the news that Vernon Kay had been texting her again – six years after the sexting scandal that nearly ended his marriage to Tess Daly.
The Mirror reports that model Rhian and ex-Coronation Street star Oliver have called off their engagement two weeks after news that Vernon was back in touch with her emerged.
According to a source, Oliver has been working since before the latest claims came to light – so he hasn't even seen Rhian since it all came out.
"They didn't speak for the majority of last week as Oliver was ignoring Rhian's calls," said the mole.
"He was angry and had been questioning their relationship. When he eventually did pick up the phone, they had a huge row and Oliver broke up with her."
However, it seems Rhian still thinks they can make it work when he comes back.
"She wants them to sit down and discuss everything face to face, but as far as Oliver is concerned, it is over," the informant added.
As for Vernon and Tess, it seems they're determined to stay together – they were spotted on a night out in Bolton together over the weekend and went on to a party after dinner.
Tess has yet to make any public comment about the texts, although Vernon released a Facebook statement the day the news broke.
"Regarding today's story: I was contacted by Rhian out of the blue back in December regarding the story in 2010 claiming she had information she wanted to pass on.
"I recognise how it may look when messages are pulled out of context but there was never any inappropriate intent to our communication, I was merely trying to find answers to questions that I've had since 2010.
"Tess is aware of everything that has been discussed with Rhian."
But shortly after that, Rhian posted a picture of Pinocchio on Twitter with the words: "A liar should have a good memory. #Twosides."
