Rhian Sugden posted a cryptic message on Twitter this morning after news broke married Vernon Kay had been texting her.
Television presenter Vernon has been messaging model Rhian since just before Christmas after the pair became embroiled in a sexting scandal in 2010.
Vernon insists he has done nothing wrong and that Tess knew he was in touch with former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Rhian, and he simply wanted “closure” from their past relationship.
But Rhian has hinted there’s more to the story with her post on Twitter.
She shared a picture of Disney character Pinocchio with her followers and wrote: “A liar should have a good memory. #TwoSides.”
In a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Vernon wrote: “Regarding today’s story: I was contacted by Rhian out of the blue back in December regarding the story in 2010 claiming she had information she wanted to pass on.
“I recognise how it may look when messages are pulled out of context but there was never inappropriate intent to our communication, I was merely trying to find answers to questions that I’ve had since 2010.
“Tess is aware of everything that has been discussed with Rhian.”
Strictly Come Dancing host Tess is said to have forgiven her husband and is giving their marriage one last chance after holding crisis talks on Tuesday evening.
A source told The Sun: “Tess is utterly devastated but does not want to give up on her family. She met Vernon on Tuesday night and tore strips off him. This has been humiliating for her.
“She can’t believe he has been in touch with Rhian again.”
They added: “She is terrified there are more revelations to come. She couldn’t handle that. It nearly destroyed her family six years ago and she thought they have moved in from it all.
“Vernon has obviously apologised for dragging it up again. Tess has forgiven him but only under some very strict conditions. The main one is that he never speaks to Rhian ever again.”
Radio DJ Vernon, who shares daughters Amber and Phoebe with Tess, is said to have been back in touch with Rhian since just before Christmas, despite the model being engaged to former Coronation Street actor Olive Mellor.
The star, who admitted he had a “massive headache” the morning the news broke, apparently said he was being an “idiot” by messaging Rhian but arranged to meet up with her in January.
In the end, they didn’t meet as work commitments meant their plans fell through.
Before Vernon issued his statement, a source told The Sun: “He knows he’s been playing with fire and God knows what poor Tess will make of this.”
They added: “Vernon told Rhian he wanted to reconnect with her and gave her a false name in his mobile.
“Sometimes he texted her while he was actually presenting his radio show and it wasn’t long before they were speaking to each other over the phone.”
Vernon admitted he was filled with regret after the original sexting scandal involving him and Rhian in 2010.
He said at the time: “I’ve been an idiot and I’ve let my family down.”
