Rihanna and Jay-Z rushed off V Festival site after intruders storm VIP area

Last night the backstage area at V Festival was evacuated after being stormed by intruders.

Rihanna was watching Jay-Z close the festival from the side of the stage, much to the surprise of her fans, who had no idea she would be attending.

But shortly after his set finished at around 11pm, festival-goers somehow managed to storm Tape nightclub’s VIP area, where Rihanna and Jay-Z were partying alongside model Lottie Moss, TOWIE’s Lauren Goodger and Calum Best.

An eyewitness told The Sun: "It was terrifying. One man smacked a steward in the mouth twice. Another stomped on one of the steward's chests. He was taken to the first aid tent. No one knew what to do, and security completely lost control. It was very serious."

Over 20 emergency support officers were then called to the area, who tackled the intruders to the floor.

Rihanna and Jay-Z were reportedly taken to a helicopter to get them away from the chaos.

Another eyewitness told The Sun: "One minute the drinks were flowing and the music was playing, the next minute the security had stormed the area and was throwing tables aside.

"Tape nightclub's fence was destroyed in the ruckus and then everyone was forced out. It was terrifying. And none of the officers would explain what had actually happened which made it all the more scary."

V Festival took place this weekend in Colchester, Essex. As well as Jay-Z, Ellie Goulding, Pink, Stormzy and Craig David performed.
