Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were the epitome of family goals last week, as they enjoyed a sun-filled holiday to Barbados with their adorable children.
Looking like they were living their best lives, the couple – who started dating in 2020 – were pictured spending some quality downtime with their sons RZA, two, and Riot, one, in the singer’s native country.
And it seems their getaway has made them broody again, with sources telling heat baby number three could be on the way.
“Ri-Ri turned 36 this year and she’d love to have more kids. She wants to do it the natural way, so there’s no time to waste,” says our insider.
“Riot is one now, so she’s ready for another pregnancy. She and Rocky aren’t putting pressure on themselves – they’re in love and won’t be giving themselves deadlines. They’ve been having a wonderful time with her family in Barbados, Rocky is totally one of them now – they love him. It’s just been a very happy and sweet time, and the hope is that she’ll come home ready to extend their family.”
But things haven’t all been plain sailing for the pair. Rapper Rocky, 35, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is set to go on trial in October on firearms charges, after it was alleged he fired a gun at former friend A$AP Relli in 2021. He pleaded not guilty earlier this year, but if convicted, he could face up to 24 years in jail.
Speaking about the impact the trial has had on their decision to expand their brood sooner rather than later, the source says, “Rocky’s facing serious jail time if he’s convicted, so there’s another more stressful side with this rush to get pregnant. Rihanna is standing by him no matter what, but there is this feeling that having another child on the way is a good insurance policy in case the worst happens.
“They’re not speaking much about the trial – they’re staying positive and strong, but it’s something that is hanging over them. It’s one of the reasons they’ve been putting such a huge focus on quality time as a family. There’s this sense that they need to appreciate every moment they have together and really live, because nothing is promised. The silver lining of that is that they’re more connected and in love than ever.”
Rihanna has opened up about how much she loves being a mum, revealing that welcoming her sons “was the best thing that ever happened to us”. And when asked if she’d like more children, she said, “As many as God wants me to have. I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
As heat has reported, the singer is keen to have a really big family, with an insider telling us last year, “She always used to say she wanted three or four kids, but as soon as she had her son that number doubled – now she’s talking about having ten!”
And, we’re told, a daughter really would make Ri-Ri ecstatic. “She’s adjusted so well to being a mum of two, and Rocky has gone above and beyond as a dad – they’re a great team,” says our source.
“Rihanna has talked a lot about wanting a little girl – it’s something she’s always dreamed of. There are some wives’ tales about how to influence the gender selection, and even though they’re not exactly scientific, they are trying them out to see if they can influence the outcome. She’s not taking it too seriously, but figures it’s worth a shot.”
The insider adds, “At the end of the day, if God wants to give her another boy, she’ll still be over the moon.”
