Riverdale and 90210 actor Luke Perry rushed to hospital following ‘massive stroke’

Riverdale and 90210 actor Luke Perry is recovering in hospital after suffering a massive stroke on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Luke, who is currently playing the role of Fred Andrews in hit Netflix show Riverdale, reportedly had the stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks at 9.40am on Wednesday 27th February.

According to American showbiz site TMZ, paramedics were called, with his representative saying the actor is currently sedated as he recovers in hospital .

As well as playing the role of Fred in Riverdale, Luke is mostly known for his role as Dylan McKay in massive hit show Beverly Hills, 90210. After the news broke of Luke's stroke, many of his former 90210 co-stars took to social media to express their love for the actor.

American actress Shannen Doherty, who played Luke's on-screen girlfriend on the show, shared a still of them to her Instagram page, writing, 'My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this.' [sic]

Ian Ziering also shared a photo, writing, 'No words can express what my heart feels hearing today's shocking news. Let us all say a prayer for his speedy recovery. [sic]

A number of Luke's Riverdale co-stars have also wished the 52-year-old a speedy recovery.

Molly Ringwald wrote, 'Sending my love to Luke Perry. ❤️', with John Behlmann also tweeting, 'Wishing all the best and a safe recovery for Luke Perry. I only barely met and worked with him, but he seems as good a man as you encounter.'
