There’s always a bit of post-wedding blues after months – years! – spent planning the perfect big day. But it’s usually the bride and groom who feel it. Insiders say Victoria Beckham is in such a funk after watching her eldest son Brooklyn marry actress Nicola Peltz that she’s now trying to persuade another family member to pop the question – her 19-year-old son, Romeo!
“Victoria would love to have another family wedding to look forward to,” says an insider close to the fashion designer, who helped Brooklyn, 23, plan the epic £3million event in Palm Springs, Florida.
“She was so impressed with the way Brooklyn and Nicola pulled off their big day without a hitch and got the whole world talking about the Beckham name again. It was a wonderful day full of love and fun for the family and really bolstered their brand, and she wants to keep that momentum going – with help from Romeo and his girlfriend Mia.
“She has high hopes for the two of them and says their engagement would be even more of a talking point around the world. She’d be very pleased if Romeo popped the question soon. Vic says it doesn’t matter if they stay engaged for a year or two before the wedding, just so long as they lock down a date so she can start getting everyone excited and inviting all the A-list guests.”
Romeo, 19, has been dating Mia Regan, also 19, since May 2019, and Victoria has become close to the Storm fashion model. The pair have often been spotted attending events together, including London Fashion Week earlier this year, and Mia frequently promotes her future mum-in-law’s latest fashion collections on her Instagram.
They’ve done make-up and fashion videos together, and VB even styled Mia personally for Brooklyn’s nuptials. Last week, the relationship took another step forward, as David, 46, shared a shot of Mia’s parents visiting them in Miami, taking them to see Inter Miami CF where Romeo is a player, and inviting them along to Victoria’s 48th birthday celebrations at Sushi Fly Chicken restaurant in Miami.
“Victoria absolutely adores Mia and has really taken the time to get to know her family,” says a source close to the former Spice Girl, who was also pictured hosting Mia’s parents on the Beckhams’ $5m superyacht.
“Inviting the Regan family into her inner circle in Miami shows how much she likes them, and she says this is the perfect time for Romeo to get down on one knee. Although they’re young, Vic doesn’t see why they can’t go ahead. She thinks they’re mature enough to handle it and they’ve been going strong for three years now, which means they aren’t afraid of commitment. Lots of people get married young and, after all, she was only 22 when she met David.”
But the former England footballer – who is also dad to Cruz, 17, and Harper, ten, with VB – is not so keen. “He’s told Victoria to stop rushing things,” says the insider. “As far as he’s concerned, Romeo’s far too young to be walking down the aisle with
Mia. David even had reservations about Brooklyn getting married at only 23. He keeps telling Vic she needs to let things happen organically, rather than micro managing everyone. He’s asking her to take a step back and not to meddle. He wants the kids to figure out their own lives, but Victoria won’t listen. She’s craving the pomp and pageantry of another family wedding and wants Mia to become a full-time member of the Beckham family. She can’t wait to be mother of the groom again…”
