Kensington Palace announced the Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a little princess into the world at 8.34am on Saturday – but now, the world awaits her name.
Royal fans are still waiting with excitement to find out the name of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's newborn baby girl, but they may have to wait in line behind Queen Elizabeth II.
Posts on the official Kensington Palace Twitter page on Saturday read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am.
“The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
The newest member of the royal family is fourth in line to the throne and spent her first full day at Kensington Palace yesterday.

So, what now?
At 2pm today, Royal gun salutes will be fired in royal parks and at the Tower of London to mark the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new royal baby.
Because of this, rumours are growing that the name could be announced today – OBVS only once the Queen knows.
Charlotte and Alice still remain the favourite names.
