So from now on, he’ll be using any cash he earns to help good causes.

What a nice chap.

“I have decided that I don't need to make any money anymore,” the comedian told Vanity Fair.

“The money that I get, I'm going to use for the establishment of community centres, which will sell good food and provide a place for people to hang out: initially, a service for people recovering from drug addiction, but also an incubator for social enterprises, where people will work, on a not-for-profit basis, in a wide variety of trades.”

The 39-year-old was rumoured to be planning to run in the 2016 election to be the next Mayor of London – which would publicise his cause even more.

But Russell later said he wouldn’t be standing for the position, which is probably the wisest decision as the BBC’s Political Editor Nick Robinson told heat, he was dubious about his chances.

“I'm struggling to follow Russell Brand's manifesto,” Nick explained to heat. “But I think it can be summed up as 'Don't vote for anyone at all ...except, perhaps, me'. It may work but I have my doubts”
