Russell Brand enjoyed being married to Katy Perry – even though he divorced her after just 14 months

Russell Brand has fond memories of being married to Katy Perry despite splitting from her after a mere 14 months. We’ve had air fresheners that have lasted longer.

Speaking on the Today Show on Monday, he said: "I really enjoyed it [our marriage]. Katy Perry is an amazing person."

The pair got engaged in 2009, married in 2010 and Brand filed for divorce in Christmas of 2011 - aka the worst present EVER, apart from socks, so the SECOND worst present EVER.

The relationship had a big impact on KP, as she said earlier this year: "It was emotionally traumatic for me. It was the death of a dream. I was in fairytale land, and the reality of it wasn't so.

"But I don't really like talking about it anymore, because it feels like a thousand lifetimes ago, and also it makes me look desperate, like I need it for attention."

There were rumours around the time of their split that the marriage fell apart because Katy didn’t want to have kids, with Russel being nine years her senior.

Things were looking pretty hunky-dory for their respective love lives with Russell dating heiress Jemima Khan and Katy romancing John Mayer.

However, they’ve since split from their respective rebounds. Katy is now rumoured to be dating mega-producer-DJ-bloke Diplo, meanwhile Russell is still courting his own ego, as he attempts to change the world with his vague ideas of revolution.
