This S Club 7 reunion malarkey has been getting us all excited for weeks now. In fact, we’re so chuffed at the news that our face is frozen in a permanent smile and our arms are constantly held above our heads as we literally reach for the stars.

But it seems the reason for the band getting back together means it may not be one massive S Club party (teehee) after all – two members of the group filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

Singers Jo O’Meara and Paul Cattermole both declared themselves bankrupt within seven days of each other back in May. Sob.

A source told The Sun: “Both Jo and Paul have found it especially tough financially after S Club split. They didn’t make a great deal of money from the band originally and their own solo projects didn’t exactly turn our profitable.

“They clearly knew a big payday was potentially on the way. The reunion is a real game changer for them.”

Jo went on to appear on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007 but became involved in an international race row along with the late Jade Goody and Danielle O’Hara and Paul was a member of metal band Skua.

Both Jo and Paul formed trio S Club with former bandmate Bradley McIntosh in 2008 and performed gigs in pubs and clubs.

But Jo and Paul may not have to worry about their bank balances anymore as they are set to make a tonne of cash with their original manager Simon Fuller, who was also the manager of the Spice Girls, behind them once again.

The source added: “It’s going to be the biggest pop comeback for years – probably since Take That got back together. They didn’t realise quite how much they were liked by the public.”
