Oh, Noel Gallagher. Where would we be without your glorious rants? We never know where Noel Gallagher is going to direct his hatred next.
In the past, Noel’s had battles with Jay Z (he called his Glastonbury appearance “wrong”). He subbed Margaret Thatcher a “d***”. And he referred to his brother Liam’s band Beady Eye as an “Oasis tribute band”.
And now Noel’s set his sights on Ed Sheeran.
In an interview with NME, Noel expressed frustration at Ed headlining Wembley.
"I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible," he ranted.
"When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a f_ing guitar it seems subversive, but it's f_ing not."
Hoooo-kay Noel. And breathe.
Oh, there’s more? Cool. Noel then went on a tirade about the state of the music industry.
"It's not all over, but it'll go back to the way it was in the early 80s where indie bands are the alternative thing, the lower level.
"In the early 80s everyone at indie labels, even major labels, were trying to push this music to the fore because everything else was s***, and maybe it'll happen again, but I don't see it for the next decade."
Ed is playing Wembley in July, though we doubt Noel will be refreshing Ticketmaster to get a seat. Soz, Ed.
UPDATE: Ed has now responded to Noel's remark that he doesn't want to live in a world where Ed sells out stadiums, tweeting: "i can live in it, its really enjoyable."
We're sure Noel is quaking in his boots...
