Sam Bailey has sparked outrage after calling for UK borders to be closed after the terrorist attacks in Paris.

At least 140 people were murdered in the French capital on Friday night in six separate attacks in the form of shootings and suicide bombings which were carried out near the Stade de France football stadium, a theatre and at restaurants around the city.

Former X Factor winner Sam offended many of her Twitter followers by posting the messages which she has since deleted.

After hearing the devastating news, the singer wrote: “OMG I think it’s time to shut our borders! It’s only a matter of time before this happens in England! Keep safe people and be vigilant.”

She added: “OMG watching Sky News!!! My thoughts go out to all that have been killed in Paris tonight and their families.”

Many who read the posts were quick to criticise the star, with some branding her “ignorant” and telling her “kill yourself”.

Sam soon deleted the tweets but had some harsh words for those that disapproved.

She wrote: “People need to pipe the f**k down!

“Tweets deleted due to the amount of abuse I’ve received! I know what I meant and I apologise if people didn’t! I don’t deserve threats though!

“Tonight I’ve been called fat, ugly, b**ch, told to kill myself and worse! Put on Sky News! All because I said what lots are thinking! Prayers for France.

“Stop abusing me for having an opinion! Even if you think it was a s**t one! Say a prayer for France! It could be us next unless something is done!”

Sam is not the only celebrity to receive criticism for their posts on social media after the attacks – Jason Manford and Rob Lowe both left some fans unimpressed.
