Former The X Factor star Sam Callahan has spoken out after an explicit video of him performing a sex act was leaked online.
The singer, who appears totally naked in the clip, is seen pleasuring himself in front of the camera.
The film was intended for another person and was filmed years ago.
Sam told The Sun: "This was a couple of years ago. I was only a teenage lad, I hold my hands up."
An unnamed source was originally trying to sell the video but it was later leaked on social media.
Aspiring pop star Sam claims he was catfished and said, after sending the video, he realised it wasn’t in the hands of the person he thought.
"I was young and foolish back then," he confessed.
"Unfortunately I wrongly trusted the person I was speaking to at the time and was completely betrayed and catfished.
"It’s not something that would happen now. I’m way too focused and driven to put myself in that risky situation, but I guess we live and learn."
This is not the first time Sam has found himself in such a situation - in 2013 he was caught sending naked pictures to a glamour model despite being in a relationship with fellow The X Factor contestant Tamera Foster.
Meanwhile, this year’s series of the show has been hit with controversy after former star Marcus Collins hinted the show was fixed.
The singer, who finished runner-up to Little Mix in 2011, dropped a cryptic hint on Instagram which suggested he knew the results of the final before they were revealed live on television.
Marcus posted a picture of himself standing alongside his former mentor Gary Barlow during what looked like a results episode of the show.
He captioned the image: "That awkward moment when you’ve already been told something and have to pretend you don’t know and are hearing it for the first time."
Many of his followers assumed he meant that he’d been told he had finished in second place ahead of time and before it was revealed to the viewing public.
One person responded: "KNEW it! When did they tell you? What did they say?"
Another replied: "That’s crazy you knew beforehand."
