Sam Smith has been open about his sexually since he entered the music industry in 2012, but sadly it hasn’t come without homophobic abuse from all corners of the internet.

Today the _Stay With M_e singer posted a screengrab to Instagram of an offensive account named ‘GAYSAMSMITH,’ which had the following homophobic ‘poem’ (if you can call it that) in the description:

“WE HATE F_GGOT SMITH there is a f_g, his name is sam. When he’s on, I like to cry. he is gay but that’s okay, we can all make fun of him.”

Not only are we disgusted at the content of the poem, but we’re not that impressed with their rhyming skills either. Jog on, mate.

But brave Sam insisted that he will NOT let hate and abuse affect him, saying:

“This genuinely doesn't offend me, coz I'm way too tick skinned when it comes to this kind of shit. BUT I just wanted to share this with everyone, so you can see how homophobia is still SO PRESENT in our society!!”

Sam, who has been out since he was 11, has taken a stand against homophobia before, speaking about the troubles and abuse he’s faced in the past. In March he revealed that other children called him a "f*ggot" while he was growing up, and told how he was the victim of a random homophobic attack when he was punched as he walked down the street in London.
