Be yourself
Since stepping onto our screens in 1998 as the fashion-forward Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City and throughout And Just Like That, SJP must have worn hundreds of outfits – some cute, some questionable. She shared, ‘If I could give any advice, especially to young women, it would be to just be yourself. I wish that everybody would feel the confidence to really be themselves. The greatest lesson is to not try so hard to look like everybody else.’ We’re reaching for our peacock headpiece right now…

Say yes to snacks
SJP once famously said, ‘Every once in a while, a girl has to indulge herself’ and we agree. For this star, however, indulgence comes in some classic British snacks. ‘When my family are in the UK, we go crazy for a dark chocolate McVities Digestive,’ she revealed. ‘If I had to pick the greatest cookie ever, that would be it. It’s perfect.’
Put your girls first
From being jilted at the altar to dumped via Post-it note, romance wasn’t easy in Carrie’s world. True love did exist, however, in the form of Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte – her closest gal pals. In the words of Carrie, ‘No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you’ll never go through it without your friends.’ It’s a mantra that rung true for SJP, who is still BFFs with co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Let’s just not talk about Kim Cattrall…

Go a bit wild
One of the many reasons fans adored SATC was our four leading ladies, who were as real as they come. Opening up about Carrie and her friends, Sarah Jessica said, ‘They are sexual. They are, some might even say, promiscuous. It’s a lifestyle – drinking, smoking, and sleeping around – that was what we saw the men doing for so long.’ You heard our feminist icon: don’t be afraid to get wild!
Shoes are life
Life certainly imitates art, with both Carrie and SJP having a long-standing love affair with a cracking heel. In the mid-1980s, the actress recalled buying her first Manolo Blahniks – Carrie’s signature shoe – revealing, ‘I used a credit card that I didn’t have any business using to buy a bunch. I couldn’t afford what I bought, I just loved them.’ Let’s face it, there’s nothing a good shoe can’t fix.

Embrace your age
Her role as a Sanderson Sister in Hocus Pocus saw her lure young children to their deaths and drink their youth. Thankfully, SJP has a different approach to aging. The actress has always been candid about embracing her looks, saying no to Botox and revealing, ‘It’s not that I don’t have an ego, or a healthy amount of vanity. I like to be graceful with myself. I’m not delusional. I know that age adds up.’
