This series of the Great British Bake Off has been quite the definition of an emotional rollercoaster.

It went up when we first laid eyes on Selasi Gbormittah, and down when it was announced it would move to Channel 4, then back up when Selasi got cream on his nose, but down when Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins and Mary Berry said they would leave, and then up once more when we saw Selasi again.

But it well and truly plummeted when he left.

BUT IT'S GONE UP AGAIN now we've discovered that Selasi and Val Stones have the most wonderful and beautiful friendship in the WORLD.

HE RODE HIS MOTORBIKE TO SOMERSET TO GO AND VISIT HER.

HE LIVES IN LONDON!

He captioned a lovely photo of them: "From London to Somerset! Did someone say ROAD TRIP? Seeing my favourite pensioner in Wells. Definitely worth the ride @valcake_walks perfect excuse and weather to get on."

LOOK!!!

She also posted a pic with the caption: "Had lunch with family and friends #friends #family."

.

FAMILY <3.

We loved this so much that we thought we'd do a bit investigative journalism (just scrolling down their social media for a few minutes) to find out more about their friendship.

Val had previously uploaded a meme of Selasi with the caption: "My good friend Selasi will like this."

GOOD. FRIEND.

AND when Selasi was eliminated from the competiton last week, Jane tweeted: "Dear Sels you were magnificent , such a gentle human being , I would be proud to have you as my son."

LITERALLY, O M G.

AND IT DOESN'T STOP THERE. She followed it up with: "Sels , thank you for always carrying my baking bags . Thank you to all the bakers for carrying stuff for me.

WE. ARE. SOBBING.
