A quick scroll through the comments on Selena Gomez’s Instagram engagement announcement proves just how well connected the Golden Globe-nominated actress is. So, it makes sense that her upcoming wedding to music producer Benny Blanco is set to be incredibly star-studded.
An insider tells heat, ‘It will be big – there’s just no way around it, they both know so many people. There will be a ton of famous faces and a very eclectic mix between her broad entertainment industry circle and all his music friends. Plus, they both have huge extended families who will be there to celebrate. Selena is working with a top wedding planner, meaning pretty much anything that she can dream up can be made to happen. She and Benny are talking about having a destination wedding in Puerto Rico, which is where Benny is from.’
The congratulatory messages have come from a veritable who’s who of Hollywood, starting with Selena’s BFF of 16 years, Taylor Swift. The singer, who jokingly commented that she ‘will be the flower girl’, was followed by Emily In Paris’ Lily Collins, who wrote, ‘Ahhhhhhhh, yes yes yes!! Best news ever. Couldn’t be more happy for you both,’ while Jennifer Aniston added, ‘HONEY!! Congratulations, sweet mama!’
And we’re told that Jen will play a key part in the special day, along with some other big names.
‘Of course, Selena is going to have Taylor Swift, Blake Lively and that whole contingent, but she’s also going to have some unexpected people, such as Meryl Streep and Jennifer Aniston,’ our source reveals.
‘Jennifer treats Selena like a little sister – she’s very excited for her and has already sent flowers and a card, offering to help out however she can. She’s planned a couple of weddings herself, so she knows a whole lot about the process and has a lot of advice to share. No doubt Selena will be happy to have her guidance. It’s hard enough planning a wedding, but a celebrity one is on a different level, so any help she can get will be appreciated.’
Although Selena, 32, only announced her engagement to Benny, 36, on 11 December – showing off her huge marquise diamond ring – plans are seemingly already well under way for what will likely be the event of the year. Our insider adds, ‘Selena hasn’t picked out a gown yet and the style will depend on where they throw the wedding, but she’s looking through Pinterest for inspiration now, then she and a stylist will go from there.’
