And to think just a few months ago she was fretting about not being a real actor – PAH!

After proving herself to be the shiniest of stars on TV screens and in theatres across the country, we think it’s only right that her maj has decided to make Sheridan Smith an OBE in her New Year's Honours List.

The 33-year-old mega talent has made it onto the list for her services to television.

And no one can deny that she’s had a fantastic year, wowing with her portrayal of Cilla Black in the ITV drama Cilla. And in the past, she’s scooped handfuls of awards for performances like her portrayal of Elle Woods in the West End’s musical production of Legally Blonde and her role in the drama Mrs Biggs.

Interestingly, Sheridan has company on the Queen's list – her ex-boyfriend and* Gavin and Stacey* co-star James Corden will also be honoured, for his services to entertainment and charity.

It's funny to think that only a few months ago, Shezza admitted she didn’t think she was "a real actor”. Hopefully this new honour will pump her full of some much needed self-esteem. Good on you, Shez!
