Simon Cowell has congratulated Zayn Malik for signing with RCA Records on Wednesday.
Music mogul Simon tweeted the former One Direction member: "We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords.
"I believe they are the perfect label for @ZaynMalik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special."
Simon's tweets come after Zayn announced his solo career would be the start of the 'real' him, as opposed to when he was in One Direction.

The 22-year-old, who left 1D in March, posted a very smiley picture of him signing what a piece of paper, which we're guessing is the contract, as he announced his was signing Simon's sister music company.
"I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !! ... #REALME (sic)," tweeted Zayn.
A week ago, as if it wasn't exciting enough that Zayn was going to come out with his own music. But now he's working with Frank Ocean's producer, Malay. O-M-G.
Malay shared a picture of his daughter and Zayn on Instagram, captioned: "Benefits of the job. My daughter gets to meet my co-workers, one [of] who happens to be one of her favourites what an amazing soul #zaynmalik."
Aside from working on the phenomenon that is Channel Orange, Malay has worked with John Legend, Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx in the past.
