Simon Cowell has donated an amazing £35,000 after hearing of the Manchester dogs home which burned down following an arson attack last week.

60 dogs died in the fire and hundreds were saved by locals who rushed to the area to help save the dogs.

The cash will be split, with £25,000 going to help rebuild the centre, and £10,000 will be used by the X Factor boss – who’s got two Yorkshire Terriers, Squiddly and Diddly – to send away two volunteer rescuers, Jason Dyer and Dean Rostock, who saved 20 dogs, on holiday.

“The idea that people could do that is just disgraceful,” said Simon. “The guys who rescued some of the dogs are both true heroes — lots of respect from me for doing it.”

The amount raised for the centre is now well over £1 million, with the public and celebs all digging deep to help.

Other famous faces who came forward to donate include dog lover, Paul O’Grady and Ricky Gervais.
