2016 has been terrible for a number of reasons, but last week was up there with the lowest points in the year.
After a few weeks of relaxing to a Selsasi-full, advert free, uncontroversial series of The Great British Bake Off, we were positively STRICKEN by the news it would be moving from the BBC to Channel 4.
AND THEN it was announced hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins would be leaving to be possibly replaced by DAVINA MCCALL.
But perhaps the worst of it all was Selasi Gbmorittah’s casual revelation that he had a girlfriend.
We recently told of all the reasons why he was definitely our boyfriend, not yours(not really) – but it turned out we were WRONG.
Come Friday, we all needed a lie down and a cry.
But it appears the show could have an unlikely saviour (a very unlikely saviour), as Simon Cowell has said he could bring a similar show to the BBC.
He said: “I am open for business and I have got an idea for a new bread show, which involves cakes and innuendos and the BBC can have the contract for life.”
Errr… Is he joking?
Just IMAGINE an X Factor – Great British Bake Off crossover.
When asked about the production company Love Productions’ decision to move in the £75 million (!!!) deal, Simon told The Sun: “Personally I think it is a mistake. I just do.
“I feel bad for the BBC, because they launched the format and it must be incredibly frustrating when you are in that position and you have got a huge hit but you can’t compete but I get the reasons why you can’t compete.”
We’re still deeply, deeply sad.
In less distressing Bake Off news, did you see the bread peen a few weeks ago?
