Everyone was shocked to hear that Simon Cowell was to become a dad.

We’d just always seen him more as a dog kind of a guy…

But the minute baby Eric arrived in February 2014, we knew it had always meant to be. Those two are just so damn cute together.

Now, Simon has spoken to* Good Morning Britain* about baby Eric; saying he was worried he hated him.

When asked whether having son Eric had changed his life for the better, Simon said: “Yes because I’m great with puppies, I’m not great with babies, because like a puppy will respond, babies at a certain age don’t do anything so when he was about five or six [months old]. I was like…. I just don’t know what to do!

“Because he wasn’t reacting to me and I thought maybe he hates me. And they said, ‘no, take your time’, because once he gets a bit older. And then suddenly one day they are talking, listening, responding, and now talking to him, communicating, whole different ball game, and also they sort of become a bit like you. Which I don’t know is a good thing or a bad thing! He’s a funny little thing.”

Simon also opened up about losing his mum in July; explaining how he gets through the tough times.

“Well like anybody else does, you’re not the only person obviously who goes through this and we all deal with it in our own way.

“I deal with it because I always believe she is still here, same with my dad, you know, talk to them. I always feel their presence and I genuinely do believe in that, once you get over that initial shock, then you deal with it in a different way.”
