We’ve all seen it on Instagram: celebs posing with a product raving about how amazing it is, with a little #spon or #ad hashtag hidden somewhere in the post.

The Geordie Shore gang are regular offenders – and now Sophie Kasaei has landed herself in hot water over claims she made about a slimming tea.

Back in March, Sophie posted before and after pictures of herself on Instagram, in which she can be seen holding up the Flat Tummy Tea product which she claims is responsible for her tummy “transformation”.

She captioned the post: “#ad Tummy Game Plan? You know it’s @flattummytea. Nothings gonna get you flat the same as this tea will. The excuses are in the past, much like the water weight I used to have.”

BUT someone complained to the Advertising Standards Authority, saying the claims that the tea could help with water weight were actually false.

The ASA then went to Flat Tummy Tea to address the complaint – who have now admitted it couldn't back up the weight loss claims with science.

So the ASA have now ordered no more adverts to appear like it again.

They added: “We also told them not to make references to health-related well-being in brand names unless those claims were accompanied by a permitted health or nutrition claim.”
