Emma Bunton has ruled out a Spice Girls reunion, saying the ladies are simply too busy.
The band initially split in 2000 and in 2007 they announced they were to embark on a mammoth comeback world tour, before they went on to launch a musical stage show in London’s West End in 2012 and perform at the Olympics closing ceremony.
Last year rumours began to swirl the girls were planning a celebratory 20th anniversary performance in the UK capital’s Hyde Park and Geri Halliwell, Emma and Mel B posted a video on YouTube teasing fans the trio were making a return as GEM.
But it seems we may have to wait a little longer as the band members, who are all now mothers, are busy with their own lives.
On another reunion, Emma told The Sun: “I hope so, but it’s hard to pin everyone down - we’re doing our own things and we’re all mums.
“I can’t imagine a tour would happen with the kids at school and everything.”
Mel C, who has had a successful solo music career, is said to only want to work together as a group again if all five members are involved but Victoria Beckham, who has made her mark on the world of fashion as a popular designer, is reportedly against any future projects.
But Emma insists the girls still have a strong bond, saying: “It is like no other. Me and Geri are chatting away all the time. She’s great. I’ve been texting Mel B a lot.”
Oh well, time to put away our Union Jack dresses and Buffalo platforms for another occasion…
