There is some consolation out there for One Direction fans: even though the real Zayn Malik has quit One Direction, we’ll still be able to get our Zayn fix through the One Direction Experience tribute band.
heat caught up with Zayn – not the actual Zayn, but Sam Stanley – to see what yesterday’s shock departure means for him.
Sam, 25, tells us: “When the news broke yesterday, I spoke to my manager. We will stay together as the original line up. I haven’t been sacked yet… I don’t think I will because with the act we will always have their songs early on in the show, so they would have to have me there for that anyway.
“Zayn is such a massive element to the band, so there’s no way they could do without me. There’s no fear of me losing my job. And if he goes off and does some music on his own that would be great, I could have my own show.”

[Zayn Malik's mum speaks out after Zayn quits...

Our Fake-Zayn added: “I think if any of them could go solo, I feel it would be Harry or Zayn. I think vocally Zayn gives so much to the band, I know his tracks inside out because I have to sing them and he does all the really high notes and all the riffs.
“He’s the power voice behind them along with Harry, so I’ll be interested to find out how they get on, how their music will change and how it will be there without him.”
And while the real Zayn wanted to escape the limelight and live a normal life for a 22-year-old, Fake-Zayn’s got the best of both worlds. Sam added: “Zayn’s always been cheeky and really playful so I take that role on stage but I don’t try to push the bad things he’s done, I don’t want to condone any of that."
You never know, the real Zayn might go back to One Direction one day…
Until then, there’s always Fake-Zayn.
