While Stacey Solomon’s Instagram is often centred on wholesome family and home content, she recently used her platform to hit back at a troll who made a cruel dig at her appearance.

The social media favourite, 35, received a comment with an emoji of a horse and a mouth, and decided against turning a blind eye, telling her followers, ‘I don’t read the horrible messages. But this is literally staring me in the face. It’s at the top of my comments on my last story, so I couldn’t get away from it.’

She slammed the derogatory text, saying she actually ‘thinks horses are really pretty’ before thanking her fans and adding, ‘Genuinely, I don’t mind what people think of me. Truly, I feel bad for mean people.’

Now, sources have told heat that, while Stacey did once consider tinkering with her appearance by going under the knife, she’s happy with herself – and wants to fight back against the trolls to prove it. Our insider says, ‘Although she spoke about wanting a nose job many years ago, Stacey has now told pals she would never consider messing with her looks so drastically. If anything, seeing the recent comment about her looking like a horse only made her more certain of her U-turn about getting work done. She would just rather put the trolls on blast and expose them for being hateful.’

Back in 2017, Stacey made various declarations about her surgical desires. Captioning a selfie on Instagram, she said she hated her ‘side profile because of my nose’, and on Loose Women, she candidly shared, ‘I’d love to get my nose done and make my face a bit shorter as it’s quite long.’ But in a more recent Instagram post about how she once lamented her nose, she wrote, ‘Sometimes the things we are most insecure about can become our best friends. Now I feel like I’m unique with lots of different bits and bumps that make me, me.’

And the mum of five has been on a journey to appreciate and embrace her appearance, which was spurred on by wanting to set a good example to her children – Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 13, from her previous relationships, and Rex, six, Rose, three, and Belle, two, with husband Joe Swash. Our source says, ‘Stacey used to obsess about having a button nose, but she’s grown to love herself and it’s taken years to build up that confidence. She can’t imagine how her kids would feel if the next time they saw Mummy they didn’t recognise her – she feels as though it could affect how they feel about their own appearance. She’s told pals that she’s happy with her looks and has actually outgrown a lot of insecurities she used to have about her features. She wants to age gracefully and just keep up her healthy lifestyle.’

The Sort Your Life Out presenter has been sharing a slew of stunning snaps recently, including from a trip to Paris with Zach and a getaway to Lake Como, where she posed in a bikini while filming content for her hair brand Rehab. ‘Question… How to have five humans and look as gorgeous as this?’ one fan complimented. And while she still has days where she’s not feeling her best, we’re told that Stacey’s confident in the fact that Joe, 43 – who she married in 2022 – adores her regardless.

'Although she has some body confidence issues, Stacey knows that Joe thinks she’s sexy and loves her, so she doesn’t need any other validation,’ we’re told. ‘Most importantly, Stacey has learned to love herself and what she sees in the mirror every day. She wants to celebrate her uniqueness and be a role model for people who don’t fit the “perfect” beauty standard. That’s why she’s not afraid to call people out when they make mean comments.

‘She would rather shine the light back on them, to highlight how ugly their behaviour is and how toxic social media can be.’
