Stephen Fry confirms plans to marry ‘toy-boy lover’ Elliot Spencer

Stephen Fry seems like a nice chap. He’s funny and cheerful and lovely and stuff but he’s spoken about how he’s been depressed and lonely in the past.

Well, the comedian can now whack a right old smile across his face – the actor, 57, is set to marry his 27-year-old partner Elliot Spencer.

The television presenter and writer Elliot have given notice at a register office, which means they have to get married within the next year.

Stephen has spoken about his battle with depression in the past in a bid to help others suffering with the condition - but he apparently has a new lust for life after meeting Elliot.

QI host Stephen thanked fans for their well wishes after the news broke today, tweeting: “Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!

“Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations. Deeply touched xxx.”

Stephen went through heartache in 2010 after splitting from his partner of 14 years, Daniel Cohen.

After the split he started dating Steven Webb, who was 27 years younger, but was apparently became single again in 2013 and blogged about his sadness at the time, writing: “Loneliness is the most terrible and contradictory of my problems.

“I hate having only myself to come home to.”

Stephen has been regularly spotted with Elliot and they made their official application to marry on December 23.

Well, 2015 is getting off to a good start for Mr Fry and his beau!
