Horrible Twitter news today. That lovely Sue Perkins off The Great British Bake-Off and Thronecast has decided to leave Twitter for a bit - after receiving death threats from Top Gear fans.

The TV host was rumoured to be in the running to replace Jeremy Clarkson on the programme, after he was dropped following an alleged "fracas" with a producer. But she insisted the story was "utterly fabricated". That didn't stop tweeters from hurling abuse at poor Sue, however, who announced her decision to leave the site today.

She said that someone had told her they'd like to see her "burn to death" and her timeline was "full of blokes wishing me dead". So now she had decided to be "off Twitter for a bit".

News that Sue has been bullied off the site has naturally, not gone down well, with "Sue Perkins" trending on Twitter, and users complaining that the vile abuse was "totally unacceptable".

Come on everyone - no matter how much you loved Jeremy Clarkson, there is NO NEED to kick off at someone just because they were RUMOURED to be in the running to replace him. What is wrong with people?
