Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had seemed an unlikely couple from the outset, so when a ‘break-up contract’ detailing the pair’s apparent scheduled split circulated online, some fans were quick to believe it. And although the document was later revealed as a fake, heat can reveal that it’s prompted Taylor to rethink their relationship.
While the superstar singer may not have made the NFL star sign a contract, insiders say she has now drawn up a new strategy to prove there’s nothing fake about their romance. Except this time, the plan is... no plan. 'When they first got together, Taylor was a lot more focused on the timing of everything – when they’d have their first public date, their first public kiss, what their PR messaging would be,' we’re told.
'That’s her style, she micromanages her image and always has, but now she just wants to take the shackles off. Taylor’s really making a conscious effort to go with the flow more now and let her hair down.'
And so far, Travis seems to be reaping the benefits of the Shake It Off hitmaker’s new carefree attitude, with the pair pictured hand in hand on multiple occasions over the past few weeks, from going large on the PDAs at the US Open to enjoying a low-key outing to a pizza restaurant in Brooklyn.
Our source says, ‘They used to hide out at home a lot, because Taylor was afraid of a public misstep that would see them get torn to shreds, but she’s determined to stop overthinking things. That’s why they popped up at a pizza place in New York the other night.'
They add, 'Travis wanted pizza and he wanted to hang with normal people like he always used to. It turned out to be a great night. Everyone was respectful and, after the initial excitement, they just blended in with the crowd and had a great time. We’re going to see more of that as time goes on, with the two of them doing loads more spontaneous things purely because they want to, rather than it all having to be prearranged and micromanaged.'
Since Taylor and Travis, both 34, were first linked in summer 2023, their relationship has gone from strength to strength – but they were both rattled by the fake relationship contract, which was apparently written on the headed paper of Travis’ PR reps Full Scope. Lawyers have reportedly been called in and a spokesperson for the PR firm has stated, 'The documents are entirely false and fabricated, and were not created, issued or authorised by this agency.'
We’re told, 'Taylor and Travis were both extremely angry about that contract scandal, which just blew up out of nowhere. They could tell right away it was clearly an AI-generated document dragging them into a ridiculous debate that was rooted in total fiction. But the fact it caused fans to question the validity of their romance stung.'
The source continues, 'They’re extremely well-practised in not letting negative rumours get under their skin for the most part. But this hit home, because it also brought their management team – specifically Travis’s – into the picture, and they felt bad about the fact it affected others and not just them. Thankfully, it’s all died down now and the matter is in hand from a legal point of view, which is a major relief.'
And, it seems, Taylor wants to show the world they’re for real via the medium of PDAs. We’re told, "If it’s taught Taylor and Travis one thing, it’s that they need to be themselves talking, not overthink the public appearances or get too hot under the collar if people want to throw cheap jibes their way."
The source adds, "They’ve realised that if they reacted to all the noise around their romance, it would quickly become too suffocating for them. That’s why they’re cutting themselves a lot more slack. They’ve managed to roll with the punches and come out of this difficult situation with a lot of positivity and perspective."
