The results are in on the Katy Perry vs. Taylor Swift feud and we can confirm...
TAYLOR SWIFT IS VICTORIOUS.
Kinda. Like, streaming wise she is victorious but respect wise we don't know whose won in this one.
The latest drama in this feud, and we went way back to explain it all when Ed Sheeran piped up a few days ago, was when Taylor returned to Spotify on the same day the Katy released her new album Witness.
While Witness has been met with lukewarm reviews, Taylor's 1989 won three Grammys in 2016. It may have been out since October 2014, but 1989 is still on peoples minds as the day after Taylor came back to Spotify it was streamed 1.68 million times, compared to Witness's 1.10 million.
Taylor also has ten songs in the top 200 streamed songs versus KP's four. So basically, her back catalogue is more popular than Katy's new release proving her pettiest move yet has majorly paid off . Of course, we're assuming she came back to Spotify purely as a power play in response to Katy Perry's Swish Swish. Because like, duh.
Not only did Swish Swish OWN TS, KP has been super open about wanting to make up with Taylor thereby showing Tay is the only one holding a grudge.
Also, the entire reason Taylor left Spotify was to support smaller artists and make a point that they're not paid what they deserve and their art shouldn't be free. So we find it super hard to believe she'd make her music free again and turn her back on that stance unless she felt she had to make a point.
TBH, point well made, hun. You're clearly the more popular artist, but maybe now accept KP's apology and move on? We reaaallly want a KP/TS collab before the end of Summer, do it for the sisterhood.
