If you watched the launch of Channel 4's latest reality TV show 'The Circle' last night (24th September), you'll most likely be wondering 'Where do I know Jay and Katie from?!', after Katie Roe was revealed as a contestant pretending to be her eldest son Jay.
Well, we've done some digging through the archives and no, they're not your neighbours, they were participants on Channel 4's documentary show 'Date My Mum'!
The show's premise was where single mothers would let their children set them up on blind dates.
Talking to The Guardian when the show aired in 2016, Katie said, “The boys know me as well as I know myself – maybe even better in some ways. So I thought, OK, let’s give them the chance to find someone for me.”
Although, the tanning salon owner did say, "I’m just wondering if we should turn this whole thing round and I should start looking for girlfriends for them [her son's Jay and Harry]. Arranged marriages! I’m all in favour … maybe I could arrange theirs, and they can arrange mine.”
And it seems Katie is still on the lookout for a girlfriend for her eldest son, 25-year-old Jay, as on last night's launch show, she joked that she "might actually find him love" on the show.
Revealing whether she'd be able to successfully mimic Jay to win the £100,000, Katie confessed, “I’m a boring over 40 married mum, compared to a 25-year-old good looking chap. He’ll be so much more popular than me.
“I’m going to be the cool kid and to be funny. I’m putting my personality into Jay’s profile. So the lads are going to love me and obviously I’m a girl chatting to girls so I think I’ve got the upper hand of knowing what girls want to hear.
The 43-year-old went on to say, “Jay’s a good-looking cool kid and I have a bubbly personality so a mixture of them both will win everyone over, I think."
