1. Olympic Lifts
Most fit pros or avid gym-goers will already know or have a good idea what a Snatch or Clean and Jerk is but in 2018 those two exercises are going to become a staple part of most gym plans. Olympic Lifting has been around for years but until recently has been a very specific sport which never got the mainstream success it truly deserved.
We believe the rise in CrossFit has really helped bring Olympic Lifts to the forefront. These are extremely technical movements but performed correctly will be a great full body movement to add to any plan.

2. Boxing Training
We’ve already started to see this coming through on social media but get ready for it to explode in 2018! Boxing style sessions, pad work with a coach and class formats are going to be huge in 2018.
With HIIT still going strong but treadmill sprints getting unexciting for people, boxing training is going to be an exciting new way for people to mix up interval based training.
Celebrity fans: Gigi Hadid, Brooklyn Beckham, Frankie Bridge.
3. Mindfulness/Meditation
Again something that’s been bubbling under the surface in 2017 but mainly only spoken about in small pockets of the community, or within the yoga circle, is meditation and mindfulness. There have been a few apps floating about over the past year or so but a lot of people who download these apps to practise the art are also in need of a little more of an individualised approach.
Do not be surprised if more meditation or silent practice classes start popping up on your local gym timetable next year.
Celebrity fans: Katy Perry, Hugh Jackman, Madonna.
4. Fun Workouts/Group Exercise
So for gym addicts like us, we love just throwing weights around or pounding the treadmill until we can’t go anymore but a lot of people are getting bored of just rocking up to the gym. The basic three-five day splits in the gym consisting of a few weights and HIIT on the treadmill just isn’t doing it anymore for people.
Next year we are sure to see an uplift in people engaging in some new and unusual ways of exercising both alone and in a group format.

5. Intermitting Fasting
I.F, as it’s known in the industry, has again been around for ages but more and more nowadays we are seeing a lot of fit pro’s or fat loss experts talking about the benefits of I.F and fat loss. We fast on a 16:8 protocol two times per week but personally, it’s more for the health benefits associated with it for us. Essentially the main long-term by-product of I.F amongst the general public is that overall they will consume fewer calories, which will, in fact, promote weight loss.
There are many ways and time windows to play with to make it suits your lifestyle but just like anything else consult a doctor of nutrition specialist before jumping on any next best diet trends.

6. Getting Qualified
With social media becoming bigger and bigger, especially within the fitness ream, the potential for business is growing just as fast. But one thing that we as qualified coaches with 10 years of experience are seeing, is that people are starting to ask more questions about how they can gain qualifications and credibility within the fitness space.
In 2018, having a bigger butt or shredded six-pack on your social platforms will not be enough for people when seeking advice and motivation.
Celebrity fans: Chloe Madeley, Courtney Pruce, Alice Liveing.
7. Caffeinate Everything
With people, all becoming busier and more active, having that morning coffee in 2018 won’t be enough to sustain people throughout the day. 2017 saw more caffeinated foods enter the market and we are sure to see this offering make the leap from niche health food stores to more mainstream outlets in 2017.
Celebrity fans: Heidi Klum, Melanie Sykes, Lily Collins.
8. Tech it Out!
For all you tech lovers out there 2018 is your year! 2018 will see fitness tech evolve to the next level, from wearable tech that will track everything from heart rate to sleep and energy balance, all the way to home testing kits to optimally set your nutrition and training protocols. It’s all coming your way next year, time to geek out!
Celebrity fans: Barack Obama, Kendall Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow.
9. Vegan Diets
The vegan diet, or even just the word vegan or veganism, has already been huge over the past year with more and more people switching over to a vegan based dietary protocol. Unfortunately, a lot of people are now associating veganism with fat loss, which isn’t really the main reason you should ever choose to go vegan.
It should come from an ethical standpoint and 90% of the vegan community will care about their health and wellness just as much as they do about the animal’s welfare issues.
Celebrity fans: Liam Hemsworth, Ellie Goulding, Mike Tyson.
10. Work Hard, Recover Harder
Nowadays, with the intensity of peoples training getting higher and higher, next year is going to be a lot more about the recovery.
We all know that you can only train as hard as you recover and next year we think there will be a lot more focus on the work done outside the gym with a particular focus on sleep cycles.
Celebrity fans: Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, Matthew McConaughey.
