Last month, The Wanted star Tom Parker welcomed his second child with wife Kelsey Hardwick; and they have now revealed the heartwarming meaning behind his unique name, Bodhi.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Kelsey revealed, “Bodhi means enlightenment so it just goes perfectly with our situation right now. He is the light at the end of our tunnel.”
Recalling the moment he first held his son, Bodhi, Tom said, “It was so nice. I cried my eyes out!”
But it seems that originally Tom wasn’t keen on his newborn’s name, however Kelsey remained adamant and as a result, baby Bodhi became a symbol of hope for the family.
Tom and Kelsey’s joy at their new arrival comes at a difficult time for the couple, after Tom was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in early October.
Whilst, tragically, not much can be done, Tom is currently receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy to give him as much time as he can with his family.
Tom revealed the news for the first time on social media on October 12th.
Sharing a sweet photo of the family in Brighton to Instagram, Tom said, “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why. There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.”
He continued, “We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.
“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options. It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx”.
