Actress Michelle Keegan and her fiancé Mark Wright have remained pretty tight-lipped when it comes to their wedding plans – well, they’ve set a date and a venue – but the exact details have so far been kept safeguarded. But with their wedding preparation expected to pick up pace now Michelle is no longer filming for Coronation Street, we were able to talk relationships with Mark’s Nanny Pat.
She told us her secret to a long and happy marriage: “Just get on with your life…I had no parents to run back to but the kids now have got parents and say, ‘Mum, I can’t put up with him or her and all that’ – we had to get on with it.” Nanny Pat, a widow, was married to her husband Charlie for 52 years. And speaking from her own experience of families getting involved in relationships – we saw in the last series of TOWIE the tensions in the Wright family over Ricky Rayment not being good enough for Jess – Nanny Pat said: “I think Jess understands and she doesn’t take a lot of notice.”
So does Michelle get Nanny Pat’s approval? She told us: “Michelle’s lovely, she’s beautiful she is. She’s lovely.” Aww – that’ll be a big YES then. And speaking about their wedding next year, Nanny Pat said: “I’m looking forward to Mark and Michelle’s wedding.” We wondered whether there was going to be a special role in the ceremony for Essex’s number one nan…but she doesn’t think so. She ruled out the bridesmaid and maid of honour roles, and she told us she won’t even be giving a reading, adding: “Because there’s enough of them [the family] I won’t be giving a reading.”
Don’t worry there’s still a slim chance that she could be a flower girl or the ring-bearer. Come on guys, PLEASE...
