TOWIE viewers took to Twitter last night to express fury over a controversial comment Yazmin Oukhello made in last night's episode.

Yazmin came under fire after she told boyfriend James Lock that mopping "is a girl's thing."

Yazmin has just moved in with James, and the scene began with James telling her: "I can't believe how domesticated you've become."

In response, Yazmin said she wished he helped more around the house – but then took it back, saying she might not have the hots for her man anymore if she saw him cleaning.

She said: “I don’t want you to be mopping up and stuff as that is a girl’s thing. I don’t think I’d fancy you if I saw you mopping about and stuff.”

James was fine with her comment – but many fans of the show certainly were not.

One fumed: "Yaz gives girls a bad name. She finds men doing housework unattractive. Go back to the dark ages. We are all equal! #towie".

“Yaz doing her best for women’s rights and feminism NOT! Gurl and there’s u telling every1 ur smart as u went 2 uni? #towie”, tweeted another.

Another questioned: “Seriously, where do they get these girls from in #TOWIE? The 1950s?!?!”

Yaz hit back at critics, tweeting: "I like doing housework & looking after my partner. What's the problem? Does not mean I'm unintelligent I just like to do it all because I can".

Yaz must be alright with her men washing up though – later we saw Lockie cleaning the dishes after dinner.
