This year truly does appear to be the year of the throuple. And with Una Healy and former boxer David Haye seemingly confirming those rumours, an insider tells heat that the singer’s close pals have been left feeling “bemused and worried.”
The Saturdays singer, 41, first set tongues wagging after sharing cosy snaps of her Moroccan getaway with David, 42, and his girlfriend Sian Osborne, 32, captioning the post, “Here’s to this year being ours.”
And last week, David appeared to cryptically confirm the romance while attending a boxing match, saying, “What I do behind closed doors is between me and the girls involved.”
Now, our insider reveals that Una’s close pals have been left “surprised” at the out-of-character romance. “Una’s always been headstrong and fiercely independent, but getting involved in something as surprising as a high-profile throuple has left many of her mates bemused and more than a bit worried,” we’re told. “
Everyone thought it was a stunt, or perhaps a midlife crisis and Una wanting to get things out of her system. But the throuple seems to be a long-term thing, and Una has made it clear she’s happy for it to carry on.”
The singer appeared alongside David at the boxing match, with our insider saying Una was “really happy to be at his side”. They told us, “Una happily posed for pictures and met a lot of David’s friends and colleagues. She’s grown really close to him and has told friends he treats her well and she gets on brilliantly with Sian. The three of them have a great chemistry and connection.”
But while Una’s friends adjust to the new romance, one person who is finding the news tough is her ex-husband Ben Foden, 37. Una split from the rugby player – with whom she shares children Aoife, ten and Tadhg, seven – last year, after it was revealed that he had been unfaithful.
And although the pair have moved on – with Ben marrying new wife Jackie Belanoff Smith on the day his divorce was finalised – he’s said to have been left “open-mouthed” at the news. “It’s not something you expect your ex to be involved in,” our insider says. “Ben was a bit concerned when he first found out.”
But despite the opinions of those around her, we’re told Una is happy with the new arrangement. “To outsiders it might be a bit unusual, but it makes her happy. The way she sees it is life’s too short to fret about what other people think and they can keep their noses out.”
