Vanessa Hudgens reveals her father has stage four cancer

During her acceptance speech for picking up the award for Breakthrough Performer at the 2015 Industry Dance Awards, Vanessa Hudgens spoke about her father's battle with cancer.

At the event in LA on Wednesday night the actress attended the event, which benefits The Cirle of Hope - a charity for dancers who have survived cancer - and revealed that her dad has stage four cancer.

Understandably the 26-year-old choked up when she told the audience: "Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer.

"Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being."

In her emotional speech she added: "This award, it means a lot to me but I dedicate it to my boyfriend's mom, Lori, my dad, and to all the families out there who are struggling with this, because it really takes a strong person and a strong family to be able to help those out who are going through this."

Accompanied by her boyfriend Austin Butler, the brunette dedicated her award to Austin's mum, to her dad and to all the families dealing with cancer.

The former High School Musical actress appears to have a good support system in Austin, and the pair, who have been dating since 2011, looked very much in love as they celebrated his 24th birthday in Disneyland California on Monday.

A few weeks ago, Vanessa posted a picture to her Instagram account, praying for her dad, Greg, who is a former firefighter, to get better.

Vanessa told her fans:"My daddy and I (SIC) Please pray for his healing!!! The more prayers the better."

We're sending all our well wishes to Greg and our thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time.
