She’s been busy planning “the wedding of the century”, brainstorming a jaw-dropping list of events that will include two ceremonies, celebrations on either side of the Atlantic, a roll call of A-list guests…and, of course, Elton John as wedding singer. But Victoria Beckham’s hopes of giving eldest son Brooklyn and his fiancée Nicola Peltz the wedding of dreams are looking more and more out of reach, as covid looks likely to derail plans for some time to come. According to insiders, the family have had their hearts set on throwing two massive weddings – one here and one in the States – in summer 2021.
But with no one knowing what next year will look like, Posh has been advised to either alter her plans and prepare a pared-down do, or else postpone. While the young couple are gutted, it's mumzilla Victoria who's really despairing.
“The pandemic is making wedding planning impossible,” says an insider close to the fashion designer, who’s reportedly designing her future daughter-in-law a show-stopping wedding dress.
“The family have their dream venues and plans – it’s a no expenses spared event with a wedding in the US, a wedding in the UK and then a third big party abroad too. But at this point, there’s just no way it won’t be affected by restrictions. Brooklyn and Nicola are worried and trying to decide how to handle it. As far as they’re concerned, they’re happy to do a smaller, intimate ceremony instead, or else wait until the following year, but Victoria is keen to press ahead.”

According to reports, Brooklyn and Nicola’s engagement back in July was just the thing the Beckhams needed to lift their spirits, and it's been shaping up to be a mega family affair. While Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo, 18, and Cruz, 15, will be joint best men, his younger sister Harper, nine, will be maid of honour, and proud dad David will be master of ceremonies.
But, as heat has told you, Victoria (who'll be designing the dress, naturally) has been feeling enormous pressure in helping put together the wedding of all weddings – and proving to Nicola’s parents that her family really are part of the British elite.
After all, while the Beckhams’ glitzy careers and £336m fortune speaks for itself in the UK – over in the States, where billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and wife Claudia spend their time attending high-society lunches and corporate events, it’s a different story. But now, Posh’s plans to throw a wedding that will knock the in-laws’ socks off are becoming less and less likely.
“Victoria’s going into planning crisis mode,” says our insider, who’s apparently at loggerheads with husband David about setting a date, as he’s keener for the young couple to wait it out. “She has contingency plans in place and is pushing for them to still set a date for next summer, but also have a back-up date booked for the autumn.
“David doesn’t understand the rush – he even thinks it’s a good opportunity for [aspiring photographer] Brooklyn to sort his career out first and properly get his life together, but Vic is adamant that they’ll find a way. She wants to go big and is determined that nothing will stand in their way.”
