Since launching Red Table Talk in 2018, Jada Pinkett Smith has brought us some pretty shocking revelations – the pinnacle being her sitting down with her husband Will back in July and admitting that she’d had an affair. Now, get ready for the British version – with Victoria Beckham as the possible host and spiller of secrets.
The online talk show – in which Jada, her mum Adrienne and daughter Willow have candid conversations around both family and wider social issues – has become a phenomenon thanks to its raw honesty and emotional revelations, and Victoria is said to be flattered to be asked by Jada herself.
An insider tells heat, “Vic is in talks to do her own Red Table Talk series where she’ll discuss about everything from her fashion empire to her marriage. She’s really excited about the opportunity. She’s never lost touch with Jada Pinkett-Smith from all those years ago when she was living in LA, and Jada reached out to Victoria with the offer. The format is slowly being expanded with the likes of Gloria Estefan now doing her own Red Table Talk spin-off and Jada thinks Vic is the obvious choice for the UK market.”
The episode of the online talk show in which Jada, 49, admitted to an “entaglement” with 28 year old singer August Alsina reached 15m views within 24 hours – so it’s no wonder husband David isn’t quite so keen on Victoria spilling all of their secrets.
“He obviously saw the drama that went on with Will and Jada and he’s putting his foot down about Vic talking about their own marriage to that extent. It was a massive shock for both Vic and David to see a similar power couple air their dirty laundry in public. David has said there is absolutely no way that he is going to be interviewed on the table and just doesn’t want to be a part of it.”

But for Victoria, 46, we’re told she feels it would be a great new project after a tough year, with her fashion business being hit hard from coronavirus. It seems the designer would like to be able to talk through her struggles, including the difficult times she has experienced in her 21-year marriage.
“Vic has said it’s not going to be anything bad,” our Beckham insider explains, adding that David knows this too: his opposition comes from a feeling of just wanting to keep things to themselves, not because he’s worried about some terrible revelation. But Vic’s enjoying the fact she’s been offered something big and exciting, which will take her mind off her struggling business and let her have some fun again. Vic wants something for herself and this is it. She will get her side of the story across and take the power back – she’s not afraid to admit that she’s not been entirely happy through the years and has been put through a lot.”
But for those of us curious about all of David’s rumoured transgressions, we may not quite get the juicy revelations we might expect.
“Obviously Vic is a private person too and she doesn’t exactly want to drag up the past. But she does want her own platform where she can be seen as a strong and independent woman. She hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, but she’s not afraid to just go rogue, and go ahead with or without David’s blessing. She wants to own her story and feels this is the perfect opportunity.”
